The Bruce Bunting Scholarship for Environmental Leadership continues to support Bhutanese professionals in building the knowledge and expertise needed to contribute to the sustainable management of Bhutan’s natural resources.
Initiated in 2020 in honor of Dr. Bruce Bunting, President Emeritus of the Bhutan Foundation, the scholarship supports Bhutanese candidates pursuing higher education at the College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan, with priority given to environmental and climate sciences, agriculture, and natural resource management.
In 2026, Mr. Dorji Tamang and Mr. Ngawang Chojey are being supported through the scholarship to pursue an MSc in Natural Resources Management from 2026 to 2028 at the College of Natural Resources.
Mr. Dorji Tamang has a background in forestry, with academic and field research experience in forest ecology, mycorrhizal fungi, soil carbon, plant diversity, and resource management.
Mr. Ngawang Chojey is a Research Officer at Jigme Namgyel Engineering College and holds a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development. His research experience spans sustainable agriculture, waste management, green infrastructure, and natural resource conservation.
Through the Bruce Bunting Scholarship, the Bhutan Foundation continues to invest in Bhutanese professionals who can help carry forward the country’s commitment to conservation and responsible stewardship of its natural resources.
