Earlier this month, more than 150 friends of Bhutan gathered in the Salesforce Tower to celebrate Losar, the Bhutanese New Year, and the Bhutan Foundation’s 40th Anniversary. It was our largest event to date filled with friendship, reflection, and a shared love for Bhutan.
As you’ll see in the photos below, the celebration reflected the spirit of community that has sustained this work for four decades. The Bhutanese community in California opened the evening with the Four Immeasurables Prayer, offering blessings of compassion, joy, and wisdom for the year ahead. The room later came alive with a joyful Tashi Phabni dance, bringing guests together in a moment of laughter and celebration.
Throughout the evening, friends old and new connected, shared stories of Bhutan, and reflected on the impact of 40 years of partnership. The energy in the room was both celebratory and forward-looking, honoring the past while committing to Bhutan’s future.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of a $108,000 matching challenge in honor of our 40th anniversary — an inspiring show of commitment from our community.
We are especially grateful to our generous co-hosts Rebecca Winsor and Lisa Danzig, the planning committee, and board and advisory council members whose leadership and hospitality made this memorable evening possible.
More than anything, the gathering was a powerful reminder that this work is sustained by people like you — a remarkable global community united by deep care for Bhutan and its future.
