The Bhutan Foundation is a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to supporting the people of Bhutan in protecting their environment, preserving culture, strengthening democratic institutions, and expanding opportunity across communities.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, outgoing, and creative Communications & Events Officer to support our outreach, donor communications, engagement materials, and events. This role is responsible for helping produce high-quality digital and print communications, manage and expand the Foundation’s social media presence, and lead the planning and coordination of fundraising and outreach events. This position will work closely with the Development and Communications teams to grow the donor base, increase the organization’s visibility, and share compelling stories about the Foundation’s work and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Draft and edit communications materials including newsletters, donor updates, proposals, website content, and social media posts.
- Manage and grow the Foundation’s social media reach through strategic content development, storytelling, and performance tracking.
- Assist with the production of the Foundation’s annual report, impact stories, and other publications.
- Manage digital communications including e-newsletters and email campaigns.
- Maintain and update website content and digital communication platforms.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of 3–4 donor mailings per year
- Manage and grow the Foundation’s social media
- Assist with design and layout of communications materials using Canva or similar tools
- Work with the Communications Team in Bhutan to maintain consistent visual and brand quality across communications
- Follow Bhutan-related news sources regularly to keep up-to-date on what’s happening in Bhutan
Event Planning and Coordination
- Lead the planning and execution of donor events and meetings
- Manage event logistics including venue coordination, invitations, guest lists, registration, and follow-up communications.
- Coordinate event materials such as nametags, programs, presentations, and promotional content.
- Liaise with vendors and venues and manage event timelines.
- Provide on-site event support.
Donor & Data Management
- Generate and manage invitation lists using the donor CRM
- Assist with preparing donor communications and stewardship materials.
- Support the development team with donor acknowledgments and event follow-ups.
- Maintain accurate records of event participation and communications in the donor database.
- Provide administrative support for communications and development activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications and events, or nonprofit development and fundraising.
- Strong writing, editing and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Experience with digital communications tools for email platforms such as Mailchimp, design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Canva), social media, and website content management (WordPress etc).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Interest in international development, conservation, or cultural preservation.
- Familiarity with Bhutan or Himalayan cultures is a plus.
Eligibility Requirement
