Trainings began this weekend for Addiction Professionals to reduce health, social, and economic issues associated with substance use disorders.

Over the weekend, our team in Thimphu helped launch a new training for counselors in Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) Basic Level Services for Addiction Professionals in collaboration with the Bhutan Institute of Wellbeing (BIW) and the Bhutan Youth Development Fund.

Over the next 45 days, the counselors are training on various modules including, physiology and pharmacology for addiction professionals and treatment for substance use disorder and common co-occurring mental and medical disorders. The training series aims to reduce the significant health, social, and economic problems associated with substance use disorders by building international treatment capacity and expanding the professional global treatment workforce.
