Loden Foundation, one of our civil society organization partners, is well known for its efforts to promote social entrepreneurship and intelligent business in Bhutan. Through our small grants program, we supported their entrepreneurship festival in 2018 called the Druk Tshongrig Gatoen where over 2000 young Bhutanese in 11 educational institutions were engaged through multiple events in seven districts. The festival also brought together entrepreneurs from around the country to showcase their products during the Made in Bhutan Market Fair.

“From supporting the functioning of the civil society council, a body representing the civil society in Bhutan, to supporting individual civil society organizations through it’s Small Grants Programme, the Bhutan Foundation plays an important role in the development of the civil society sector in Bhutan. Last year, we celebrated the first-ever Druk Tshongrig Gatoen or the Bhutan Entrepreneurship Festival  – enhancing the skills and understanding of more than 2,000 young Bhutanese on the importance of entrepreneurship for Bhutan, providing a platform for 29 entrepreneurs to display their products at a market fair in Thimphu and a total of 11 simultaneous events across educational institutions in the country. This would not have been possible without the support of the Bhutan Foundation. We remain thankful to the foundation’s continued efforts to support the growth of civil society in Bhutan.”
