As part of our mission to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers in Bhutan, the Bhutan Foundation supported the second training for members of the Internal Review Board (IRB) of Khesar Gyelpo University of Medical Science! This five-day training was led by local and international facilitators from the Yale School of Public Health and covered a number of subjects such as the need for ethical review, special issues in social science and epidemiological research, IRB review of social and behavioral research protocols, clinical ethnics and much more.

Attendees of the training from IRB were a diverse group from different departments as well as from Civil Society Organizations in Bhutan. The IRB itself was formed to promote and strengthen research capacity in the country. We’d like to thank all members who participated as well as the facilitators from Yale for lending their expertise to this week-long training session.
