Health Officials Trained on Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support in Mongar

Periodic refresher training for healthcare providers is crucial to improve the survival rate for cardiac patients. In this regard, the Eastern Regional Referral Hospital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, conducted a Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support training for both adults and pediatric health care providers in Mongar. The two-day training for medical doctors and nurses provides both theory and practical knowledge, including a written examination at the end of the course. A total of 66 healthcare providers took the training this year so far.

The same training design was in the works to be replicated in Trashigang District from April 19th to April 22nd. However, the program is on hold due to the recent lockdown in the southern borders. Once the training program resumes, the intention is to cover all health facilities in Eastern districts, which should benefit around 120 medical doctors nurses in the region.
