The Bhutan Foundation in collaboration with Disabled Persons Association of Bhutan partnered with Aman Kora Resort in 2015 to train eight unemployed visually impaired youth for massage therapy. Tshering Dorji is one of the eight candidates who now runs his own home spa in Thimphu with a small seed fund from the Foundation. The spa is popularly known as Dhungsel home spa and is located in Thimphu. With his mission to  empower other people living with disabilities, Tshering trains and  hires other youth with disabilities. With our small grants program this year, we supported a steam room with a steam machine for Tshering’s home spa to diversify his services. Previously Tshering was only able to provide massage services to his customers,  now with the installment of the steam machine, Tshering can attract more customers, mainly during the winter season.

“I am very grateful  to Bhutan Foundation for the support to establish a small steam room in my home spa. Usually during winters, my business runs slow, because not many people want to have a massage due to the cold weather, now I can offer my customers a hot steam bath. Many have availed the steam service and are very happy with the new service addition”
