Standing among thousands of volunteers during the 5th GMC Volunteer Program in Gelephu, our team felt a deep sense of gratitude and humility. Participating in the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) volunteering program as part of the Bhutan Foundation was more than an opportunity to serve—it was a meaningful moment to reflect on what it means to contribute, even in a small way, to the vision of His Majesty The King and the future of our nation.

From the very beginning, there was an extraordinary sense of energy and shared purpose among everyone gathered. The number of volunteers who arrived was nearly double the expected turnout, reflecting the strong collective spirit and commitment of the Bhutanese people. Individuals from all walks of life came together with a shared sense of responsibility toward Bhutan’s future. As a team representing the Bhutan Foundation, we felt honored to take part in this important nation-building effort. It reminded us that great visions are realized through the dedication and unity of many who believe deeply in that vision.

One of the most inspiring moments for our team was listening to His Majesty’s vision, hopes, and aspirations for a prosperous and sustainable Bhutan during a Royal Audience granted to us. His Majesty emphasized the importance of working together toward a common goal for the good of the country while sharing significant milestones that GMC has already achieved. Witnessing His Majesty personally engage with volunteers and share in the work strengthened our sense of pride and commitment.

We were also deeply moved to witness His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Holiness the Je Khenpo, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen, Their Majesties the Gyalyums, Their Royal Highnesses the Gyalseys and Gyalsems, and other members of the Royal Family present during the program. Their presence brought a profound sense of spiritual grounding and continuity, reminding us that Bhutan’s strength lies in the harmony between its people, its leaders, and its enduring traditions.

Throughout the program, we were reminded how fortunate we are to live in a country guided by such visionary leadership. The Gelephu Mindfulness City initiative represents more than a development project—it reflects a hopeful vision for Bhutan’s future, one that brings together progress with the values of mindfulness, sustainability, and compassion.

As our days of volunteering came to an end, our team left with a deep sense of gratitude and renewed responsibility. We remain honored to have contributed, however modestly, to this historic moment for Bhutan.
With profound respect and gratitude, the Bhutan Foundation team offers our heartfelt wishes and prayers for the successful realization of this royal vision. May the Gelephu Mindfulness City grow into a beacon of hope, wisdom, and harmony for Bhutan and for the world.
