Amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Dangochang, at the base of the majestic Jomolhari, communities from Soe, Nubi, Yaksa, and Lingzhi came together to celebrate the 11th Jomolhari Mountain Festival — a vibrant tribute to Bhutan’s rich highland culture and enduring commitment to conservation.

The festival grounds came alive with the sound of traditional songs, spirited dances, and friendly competitions, drawing over 1500 visitors from across Bhutan and beyond. It was a celebration not just of culture and community, but of resilience — showcasing how Bhutan’s highland people continue to live in harmony with nature amidst some of the most challenging yet beautiful environments on Earth.
Beyond the festivities, the event stood as a powerful reminder of Bhutan’s ongoing efforts in snow leopard conservation. Through the dedication of local communities, conservation partners, and continued support from organizations like the Bhutan Foundation, the highlands remain a thriving home for this elusive and iconic species.

Organized by the Soe Gewog and Thimphu Dzongkhag Administrations, with support from the Bhutan Foundation and other partners, the festival highlights the importance of community-led conservation and cultural preservation in the highlands.
As the celebrations continue, the Jomolhari Mountain Festival reaffirms Bhutan’s unique vision — where people, culture, and nature flourish together in harmony.
