The Bruce Bunting Scholarship, established in 2020, supports Bhutanese professionals from both government and civil society to pursue higher studies in fields related to conservation and natural resource management. Since its inception, the program has supported six scholars to date.

This year, we are pleased to announce the 2025 recipients of the Scholarship are Mr. Ugyen Tenzin and Mr. Pema Wangchuk! Selected through a competitive process by the College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan  both scholars will be pursuing their master’s degrees.

  1. Ugyen Tenzin, a Senior Forestry Officer with the Dagana Forest Division in Dagana District, will pursue a Master of Science in Conservation Biology.
  2. Pema Wangchuk, a Senior Agriculture Extension Supervisor in Trashigang District, will pursue a Master of Science in Natural Resource Management (NRM).

Both scholars bring valuable field experience and deep commitment to sustainable development in Bhutan. As they begin their academic journey, we look forward to sharing updates from their research and how their work contributes to Bhutan’s conservation and sustainable development goals.
