Bhutan Health Trust Fund

Bhutan Health Trust Fund
The Bhutan Health Trust Fund was established in 1997 to ensure continued and timely supply of vaccines and essential drugs, and to eliminate uncertainties for financing crucial components of the health services. The goal of the Fund is to establish an endowment, which will generate sufficient returns to cover all annual expenditure on vaccines and essential drugs. By ensuring the financing of these crucial components through a Trust Fund, the Royal Government of Bhutan can utilize the national health budget for other critical elements of health care including development of human resources, health infrastructure etc.

The Bhutan Foundation continues to support the Health Trust Fund, which was established to ensure that basic health care needs such as essential drugs and vaccines are available and sustainable. The Bhutan Foundation is raising funds online to help the Health Trust Fund reach its targeted goal of US $24 million. The Health Trust Fund currently stands at US $20 million.
